Summer Camp Roundup
Zajac Ranch for Children had another incredible summer filled with horseback riding, talent shows, arts and crafts, giggles, water fights and so much more! We welcomed back hundreds of returning campers and greeted many new campers who joined us for the first time!Thank you to all of our summer staff, volunteers and donors who helped make this another successful season. We can’t wait for next year!
Here are some fun facts about the 2017 medical camp season:
Number of campers:We had 388 campers at 10 different summer camp sessions, including the newly added Camp Choice, which welcomed 44 at-risk youths from the Vancouver area!
Volunteer hours:More than 50 volunteers came out to the ranch during summer camp to help out our counsellors and activity specialists, and to staff the 24 Medical Centre. Thank you for donating more than 4,740 hours of your time!
Number of provinces represented:We welcomed campers from 59 cities in 6 provinces – Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Ontario, and even some campers from Washington State!
Medical conditions supported:Thanks to our volunteer doctors and nurses who tended to more than 60 different medical conditions, including heart conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, blood disorders, autism, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, kidney disorders, and visual and hearing impairments.
