Opportunity:
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Unit Leader to become a member of our team. In this senior staff role, Unit Leaders will be responsible for managing daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable summer camp experience for all participants.
Reporting to: Assistant Camp Director
Direct Reports: Sr. Wrangler (Camper Care Team Lead), Jr. Wrangler (Camp Counsellors) & Jr. Wrangler (Inclusion Worker)
Position Type: Contract, Seasonal
Length of Contract: 2.5 months (June 7, 2025- August 29, 2025)
Number of Positions Available: 3
Specific Duties include but are not limited to:
Staff Management:
- Provide leadership to a team of counselors and their respective Team Leads acting as mentor, supervisor, support system.
- Write and deliver mid-summer and final performance reviews for Camper Care Team Leads and all Wranglers.
- Be active in the staff progressive disciplinary process, as needed, and provide recommendations to the Director’s for responding to performance issues.
Operations:
- Attend daily senior staff meetings to enhance communication and facilitate effective management of the summer camp operations.
- Assist with camper arrival and departure day procedures.
- Work with Food Services department to facilitate mealtimes and snacks.
- Provide any maintenance requests that need to go to the Superintendent Maintenance to the Directors, as required.
Camper Care:
- Write quick sheets, night care sheets, and camper outgoing reports for all campers within assigned dorm.
- Provides creative adaptations, modification, or alternative options for participants when needed and as appropriate, while simultaneously adhering to Zajac Ranch for Children’s policies and procedures
- Fosters an inclusive environment for all program participants.
- Reports on success and challenges of the program, including recommendations for the future, to supervisors.
- Utilizes emotional regulation, visual schedules and aids, positive behavior support strategies and other tools when needed to support campers in the enjoyment and successful participation of day-to-day camp activities.
- Maintains confidentiality of all participant information.
- Administers care in emergency and first aid incidents, exercising sound judgement and leadership, deferring to supervisors where appropriate.
- Receive IFRs and ensure that proper incident reporting procedures are being adhered to.
- Other duties as assigned.

- A genuine enthusiasm for working with children and youth, with the ability to inspire campers and create a positive camp culture.
- Previous experience working with children with complex medical conditions and/or neurodivergence.
- Completion of second year post-secondary studies in a related field (Social Work, Education, CYC, Developmental Support, Behavioral Science, Pre-Health, etc.).

- Standard First Aid
- CPR
- Ability to pass criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screening
