Counsellor in Training

Date: Monday, July 29 – Friday, August 2, 2019

The Counsellor in Training Program (CIT) is the perfect first step for campers aged 17-18* who are interested in working in a summer camp environment, or who have previously completed the LIT program. During this intensive and exciting five day training, CITs will focus on developing the skills necessary to being an effective and engaging camp staff, including: group facilitation, creative programming, behaviour management, and communication. CITs will also get a chance to work alongside our outstanding Zajac Ranch Wranglers and Rangers, gaining hands on experience working with campers and running a variety of programs.

This program is invaluable for young adults looking to gain experience and skills that will make them competitive applicants to the Zajac Ranch staff or volunteer team next summer, with applicable skills to other camp and child/education oriented settings. Applicants should be prepared to work hard, have fun, and learn what makes the camp magic possible.

This year’s CIT camp overlaps with our Mixed Medical Camp #2. CIT Participants will be working alongside children with a variety of varying medical concerns. The nominal camp fee charged for our CIT program includes three meals per day, accommodations, and leadership support from our Zajac Ranch camp staff.

*Please note – the ages listed for LIT and CIT are a guide; applicants outside of this age range may be accepted. Each application must be approved by both the Nursing Director and the Camp Director.
