“Every kid should get to go to summer camp – let’s work on that together.”

A Message from Mel Zajac, Founder

HERE’S TO OUR 18TH SEASON OF TRANSFORMATIVE SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCES!

2022! WHAT A FANTASTIC YEAR!

How amazing was this past summer at Zajac Ranch for Children? It was the best. Simply the BEST!

After pivoting and adapting during the COVID-19 pandemic, I really can’t tell you what that meant to me to hear the laughter and see the smiles on the children’s faces when campers returned to the Ranch this past summer. It was like a kind of music and magic for my heart. As you read through this newsletter and look at the pictures of memories made this year, I trust you will see and feel this too.

Finally, after partially opening and hosting only family camps in 2020 & 2021, Zajac Ranch for Children fully opened this summer. Campers once again rode horses, paddled kayaks, soared above the ground on the high ropes course and roasted marshmallows around the campfire while their special medical needs were cared for at the OK Corral, our 24-hour medical centre. They met other children facing the same challenges and learned that a wheelchair or special medication does not define them.

Camp profoundly impacts our campers for its physical, mental and educational benefits and, most importantly, for the lifelong joy and memories it brings. Every day, I am energized by the belief that our joint efforts are making a world of difference for these amazing kids at Zajac Ranch for Children. Your generosity gifts children and youth living with serious and complex medical conditions with experiences at one of the best medical camps in Canada.

After reading through this newsletter, I hope you will be inspired to continue to support Zajac Ranch for Children so that together, we can transform the lives of as many children and youth as possible.
