Zajac Ranch Job Description – Wranglers (Inclusion Support Specialist)
Organizational Overview:
Located on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, BC, just one hour east of Vancouver, Zajac Ranch for Children is situated on over 40 acres of pristine forested land. During the summer months, Zajac Ranch provides camps for children and young adults with chronic, life threatening and/or debilitating conditions. In the off-season, Zajac Ranch welcomes school groups and private rentals. Revenue raised from site rentals goes to supporting Zajac Ranch summer medical camps.

Position Type: Contract, Seasonal
Length of Contract: 2.5 months (June 15, 2026 – September 4, 2026) *some camp session exceptions apply due to private camps
Compensation: $150.00 per day; MANDT Relational and Technical Training & Certification; plus, meals and accommodation provided during camp sessions.

Position Summary:
The Wrangler (Inclusion Support Specialist) provides one-to-one and small-group support for campers with additional physical, behavioral, or developmental needs. Working under the guidance of the Unit Leaders, the Inclusion Support Specialist ensures that every camper can safely and successfully participate in all aspects of the camp program.
This role collaborates with counsellors and program staff to adapt activities, foster inclusion, and ensure a supportive and joyful experience for all participants. Each Inclusion Support Specialist is assigned an individual camper each week to provide personalized assistance and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities:
Camper Support & Care
- Provide individualized support, modifications, and adaptive strategies to help campers fully engage in daily activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all participants.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and supervisors regarding camper needs, progress, and updates.
- Utilize emotional regulation tools, visual aids, and positive behavior strategies to enhance participation and success.
- Maintain confidentiality of camper information and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to medical or behavioral incidents, administering first aid when necessary.
- Participate in camp routines, meetings, and team discussions to ensure coordinated support.
- Complete daily and end-of-session reports highlighting camper successes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall camp operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or youth, preferably in a camp, recreation, or care setting.
- Experience supporting children or youth with disabilities, neurodivergence, or complex medical needs.
- Strong communication, empathy, leadership, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability and teamwork in dynamic environments.
- Minimum 18 years of age (required).
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C (required).
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required)
Work Environment:
- Live-in role during camp sessions with weekends off.
- Requires flexibility, high energy, and the ability to work in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
- Active participation in physical and recreational activities is expected.
