Organizational Overview:
The Zajac Ranch for Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outdoor and camp experiences to young adults and youth living with special needs and chronic illnesses. Children who attend camp will improve their self-esteem and confidence in a stimulating, supportive, empowering and fun environment, while ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a camp nurse for our 2026 summer camp season. This is a contracted position for the entire season, offering an honorarium of $1500 per week.
Our medical volunteers are a vital part of providing a fun and memorable experience for our campers. We strive to ensure that all our volunteers are fully supported to create a safe space while they are at Zajac Ranch. You are welcome to stay on-site (accommodation space for weekend stays will differ) during your days off or take the opportunity to explore the beautiful surrounding areas. Your on-site hours will be from Monday at 9:00 AM until Friday at 3:00 PM.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the good health of the campers, staff, and volunteers at Zajac Ranch for Children.
- Distribute medical equipment and supplies to program areas and cabins at start of camp.
- Be present at camper check-in to greet the campers and family. This includes reviewing camper medications, routes, dosages. and times with the parents.
- Review campers’ medical files to ensure all necessary medications and needs are prepared for and met.
- Ensure all medications for campers and staff are appropriately organized and stored.
- Administer camper medications according to directions provided by camper’s MRP.
- Assure medications and procedures are administered properly and appropriate records are maintained.
- Document any incidents as outlined in the camp manual (logbook, health department report, incident reports).
- Immediately respond to any first aid needs of campers or staff. This includes treatment for minor illnesses, accidents, or mishaps.
Requirements
- Valid CPR-C certification (higher certification accepted).
- Current practicing registration with the relevant regulatory college or association in British Columbia.
- If you do not have practicing registration in BC please contact the Nursing Director (nursingdirector@zajacranch.com) to explore options.
- Qualified professional in the field of medicine or nursing (MD, RN, LPN, RPN, or NP).
- Students and paramedics are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on availability to pair with a nurse or MD.
Perks
- During camp sessions, accommodation is provided in the newly built medical residence near the medical centre in a four-bedroom and two-bathroom house.
- During camp sessions, meals will be provided by the camp chef.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract Length: Duration of the summer camp term as noted above. We may conder a partial commitment (i.e., half or several consecutive weeks).
Pay: $1,500.00 per week, plus camp meals & accommodation
